Let’s Get Cooking!
The sweet, smokey aroma of delicious barbecue filled the air at Apopka’s scenic Northwest Recreation Complex Friday afternoon as 117 of the country’s best “Q” teams prepared to compete at the Old Florida Outdoor Festival. All the cooks gathered together for a welcome from Apopka Mayor Joe Kilsheimer and a review of competition rules.
Come out Saturday to watch the big cook-off for $25,000 in cash prizes as well as outdoor recreation exhibitions, music, food and fun for the family. The day wraps up with a big concert from country music duo Montgomery Gentry. The festival continues Sunday with a chili competition and a concert by country singer Joe Nichols.
